    • Tail lights: 6 amps per circuit
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

2010 Ford Taurus

The day I received the Curt T-Connector vehicle wiring harness I tore into my trunk of my 2010 Ford Taurus SHO to install. Super easy lug and play to each taillight. Two things to do which are to mount a ground then run a power wire from trunk to the front engine bay and connect the 10 amp fuse and attach to battery connection. Only took 45 minutes which I thought was good since this was my first time. Connected 4 pole harness lead to my trailer and everything works great

by:

Followed etrailer's [online] install video, took a few hours by myself but it looks and works great!

by:

Works as advertised. I had to do a little more trimming to the bumper cover for clearance than I would have liked, but you still can't see it unless you're poking your head under there to look anyway.

by:

Very good directions, easy to follow. Everything worked perfect.

by:

Absolutely the easiest wiring harness to install ever!!! Would recommend this to anyone, even if you have limited mechanical skills it was a breeze, follow the video instructions and its a breeze.

by:
2010 Ford Taurus

Looked very intimidating at first. However, it took me about an hour to install harness. Longest part was fishing the power line from trunk, to engine compartment. I would recommend it to everybody.

by:

Everything fit as expected and install went smoothly.

2022 Ford Explorer

Installation videos are great. Called sales and they told me the product I needed wasn't available. Contacted tech support and they immediately sent me a part number which was a little odd. As usual, order processed and shipped immediately. Delivery by UPS arrived on time but the package was horribly torn up. Luckily it appears no damage or missing items.

by:

it was easy to install and it work as a dvertised

2011 Ford Taurus

I purchased this hitch for a 2011 Taurus. The price was very resonable.
I'm 73 years old and I installed this by myself in less than 3 hours. The attached directions were very good and it was easy to install. I didn't have to drill any holes. The hitch included everything I needed to install the hitch. I also purchased the electrical kit. It also installed easy with great directions.
I was very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this hitch to anyone needing one.
I use it to pull a 6 x 8 foot trailer and have used it numerous times. It works great.

Wiring harness was received as ordered, very easy to install, worked as planned.

Product still working perfect a year later

by:

The quality of the product was better than I expected. It works well and would probably handle almost any trailer lighting configuration. Like the fact that the trailer wiring has little demand on the cars wiring harness. High tech auto lighting easily adapted to old style trailer lighting. Installation took about two hours, mostly do to the routing of the main battery connection. My car was quite low to the ground, a little more room between the car and ground would have been helpful during installation of the main battery connection. Tried routing throw passenger compartment but couldn't find a good opening throw firewall.

the way the package was on receiving it, I was surprised all the products were in the box--not your issue.
I ordered on Sunday and got notification later that day that the items were picked, packaged and ready for pick up. Can't beat that

2016 Ford Taurus

Excellent product. It is well designed and well made. As mentioned in my review of the trailer hitch, I haven't installed this hitch or wiring harness on my new car but I used the same system on my 2010 Taurus several years ago. This product has worked well for several years and it should do the same on my 2016 Taurus.

by:

All went well with the hitch. The videos were a big help! The wiring harness installation went well but I stopped to go to the store to get cable clamps and self tapping screws ( I used 5). Testing was easy with a trailer light tester hanging over my back seat. I could see all the test lights in my rear view mirror. Best of all it worked.

  • Recommened 4-Way Wiring Harness for a 2018 Ford Taurus
It's a pain and we get this question daily but the only way to power the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56093, and not damage your Taurus or void the harnesses warranty, is to run a direct line to the battery. The tail light converter needs to be powered by a direct 12v line to your battery to function correctly. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56093 is custom fit for your 2018 Ford Taurus. It plugs into your Taurus's wiring harness, which is located...

  • Parts Needed To Install a 7-Way and Trailer Brake Controller On a 2021 Ford Explorer
To install a 7-way connector on your 2021 Ford Explorer you will to start with the 4-Way # C56093. This will tie into your vehicle tail lights to gain the input signals for the lights. You will then connect this to the 7-Way Install Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes the 7-way with a mounting bracket and all the wiring needed to install a Brake Controller # RED52VR. The 7-way connector also comes with a 4-way connector so there is no need for an adapter when towing smaller trailers.

  • What is the Hitch with the Highest Weight Rating for My 2022 Ford Explorer?
Both the Curt Hitch # CU78FR and the etrailer Hitch # e29YR have tongue weight ratings of 600 pounds and towing capacities of 6000 pounds for your 2022 Ford Explorer. It is important to note that you will be limited to the weight capacity of your lowest component (i.e., the hitch, ball mount, or vehicle weight rating). To complete the setup, I recommend trailer wiring. For the best 4-way harness, the highest-quality harness we carry is the Tekonsha T-One 4-Way # 118599. This harness comes...

  • 4-Way Vehicle Wiring Harness and Flat Towing Diode For a 2017 Ford Taurus
You will need to use a separate Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 that will be separate from Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56093 on your 2017 Ford Taurus. The diode kit will only tie into the individual brake lights and running lights on the rear of your Taurus. The diodes will prevent any back feed from the vehicle to the towed vehicle. • Recommended Hitch and Wiring for 2020 Ford Explorer without Factory Towing Package
The Curt # CU78FR is the correct hitch for your 2020 Ford Explorer and the powder coating on Curt hitches is a bit thicker, so it's going to help protect the hitch from scratches better than other hitches. For wiring, the Curt # C55384 is designed for Ford Explorers with the factory towing package, so it's likely that this 2020 Explorer doesn't have this towing package. • Will Curt Trailer Hitch Mess with Liftgate and Parking Sensors on 2020 Ford Explorer
The hands-free liftgate may still be functional with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C33NR installed on your 2020 Ford Explorer Limited, but I don't have a way to confirm it at this point in time (Oct 2023). Typically what we see is that the sensors have a harder time picking up foot movement so you'll have to to either side of the receiver. The T-connector will plug directly into your existing wiring with no splicing required. • What 7-Way Harness and Brake Controller do You Recommend for My 2022 Ford Explorer?
For your 2022 Ford Explorer without a factory tow package, you need to have a 4-way installed before adding the 7-way harness. If you need the 4-way, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118599. The T-One harness has a better-quality converter box than the Curt # C56093. Once you have the 4-way installed, now it is time for the 7-way. For that part, I recommend the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7. With this system, you will be able to hardwire...

If you don't already have a trailer hitch or ball mount then I recommend using the following as well: - etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e29YR - Curt Towing Starter Kit # C45534 I really like the etrailer receiver because of the matte black finish that does a great job at blending...

Tekonsha makes an excellent product, but the # 118599 harness you'd looked at won't fit Explorer Police Interceptor models. • Why is a Battery Connection Required for Trailer Wiring Installation on a 2012 ford Taurus
The trailer wiring harness # C56093 and any wiring harness that requires a direct connection to the battery uses battery power to power the trailer lights. The idea is that you are isolating the vehicle from the trailer as mush as possible to limit the chances of a short on the trailer damaging the vehicle wiring.
